Irritant

Single - Dark City

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Dark City' @ 'CD quality'

'Dark City' is another great single release by melodic rockers Irritant. Irritant's twin guitar attack and harmonious vocals are once more used to the nth degree to showcase the band's effectively refreshing rockin' way.

Although Irritant's way is by no means new, it is still very, very attention grabbin' and pretty damn compelling. Reminiscent of Wishbone Ash in their approach and bringing British rock music back home and nicely tangible, Irritant set their musical stall out with unashamed honesty and good rockin' sensibility.

Irritant's kinda rock isn't retro but it is quite obviously familiar sounding but still exceptionally listenable and mildly head-bangin'. Irritant make no excuses for playin' rock in this way - quite right too, it's a proven formula, tried, tested and successful. Irritant bring a touch of modernity to the form at the same time showing that electric rock music can be melodic and harmonious as well as being kick-ass driven. For me, the twin guitar line-up brings with it a dynamic that's not normally available in a one axe format (even multiple over-dubs and double tracking never quite achieve the same pleasing result).

Perhaps Irritant could be considered a 'safe' rock act because of their approach - not for me though - Irritant feel as real and as enjoyable as any other rock band out there. 'Dark City' by Irritant is great, driving rock that's great wherever it's heard - give it some db's and just sit back and enjoy - Irritant show once again their penchant for mid-rock melodica that's as commercial as it is cultish. Really great work once again from this expressive bunch of rocksters!
