Play 90 second soundbite of 'Synthetic Society' @ 'CD quality'
Generally, the tracks are short and very much to the point. There's little respite from the high octane delivery; a delivery which is both impressive and massive.
Nine superb tracks that are full of impressive tempo changes and light and shade. Now, that may seem at odds to my original statement about 'ripping from the speakers' but, believe me, Immoral have managed to mix it up pretty well whilst retaining their gritty punk attitude. They frequently drop into big heavy rock riffs and licks that work brilliantly with the overall ballsy punk and these guys are tight, damn tight! My initial thoughts were that the tracks felt a bit samey - but hey, I got it wrong, there's actually plenty of variation and certainly plenty to get yer teeth into.
If I have one criticism, it's that although these guys are very accomplished and polished performers and their hard hitting lyrics are pretty tasty, I just wonder if their chosen genre is now commercial enough. Sure, these guys are gonna get masses of work. Sure, they'll blow away audiences with this sort of aggression and vitality. But, I can't see Immoral breaking into the 'big time' - simply because the 'punk' thing doesn't have the street cred that it once had.
Having said all that, Immoral are an awesome sounding outfit and 'Another World Away' is a superb piece of work if a little on the short side (nine tracks that, in total, last less than twenty-five minutes). Short it may be, but kick ass from start to finish!
