Actually, it doesn't really matter at all coz 'Year Of The Golden Pig' by Hymn For Her is a stunning album no matter what, or who!! Everything here is absolutely spot-on, done to an absolute turn, sorted, sifted and stoked. The songs, and there are twelve of 'em, are all fantastic. The musicianship is excellent - nothing overly complex at all - everything's just so and just right. The vocal work is totally amazing, individually and in harmony. All-in-all, 'Year Of The Golden Pig' by Hymn For Her is nothing short of brilliant!
Even the packaging here is top class; arty and just short of being quirky - this album doesn't come up short in any way I can think of! 'Year Of The Golden Pig' is just so damn good! Individually both voices are fanbloodytastic and Maggi and Pierce harmonise so well you'd think they were born to do this together - you couldn't manufacture such a well suited match if you tried! There's a near-tangible chemistry between the two that's mind-blowin' and instrumentally the two play as one; everything they touch seems to come up smelling of roses! This work is refined, breathtakingly cool and massively rewarding. 'Year Of The Golden Pig' doesn't take risks - it doesn't need to! Americana all-day long, 'Year Of The Golden Pig' brings down-home-farm country-folk to your home - you don't need to go anywhere, just put this baby on and let it go - you'll be amazed at how good Hymn For Her are and even more amazed at what this album can offer you.
As if great music wasn't enough, Hymn For Her offer the listener a little corner of their world here - a slice of America to sit back and enjoy. Hymn For Her carry the listener away on their wonderful music - not for a single moment does the quality drop off, never do Hymn For Her come up short, 'Year Of The Golden Pig' is special, very special indeed. And, I can't think of any way to criticise 'Year Of The Golden Pig' - it's just fanbloodytastic from start to finish, a perfect, precise work from a sensational couple. The dynamics here are wonderfully bright and so well thought out that it all feels so easy, so friendly and so welcoming. This is one helluva work from two brilliant individual musicians that come together to make such sweet music together.
'Year Of The Golden Pig' by Hymn For Her is a classy and uplifting album, pure gold, a very special piece of work the like of which you don't come across too often! Bloody marvellous!!
