Highrise

Demo

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Memories' @ 'CD quality'

Highrise are a newish outfit from in and around Evesham. This demo comprising two really goods tracks in, 'Memories' and 'Running Out Of Time' suggests that Highrise are gonna be an outfit that'll do well in and around the UK with their punk-rock tinged power-pop. In just two tracks it's quite clear that Highrise are as punchy as hell and have real kick-ass rock attitude whilst managing to keep a firm hold on musical acceptability and commercial possibilities.

Opening with 'Memories' and I instantly heard the balladic rock side of this infectious five-piece; more rock than punk maybe but with a pretty cool aggressive edge that pays gentle homage to their punk roots. The track works in all aspects; it's good and catchy, it rocks along beautifully, it's well proportioned and well produced. 'Running Out Of Time' is more of the same adrenalin driven melodic rock executed with authority and verve.

It's an impressive demo that'll work very well for them as promotional material; gigs will be numerous on the back of it and I'm sure Highrise will quickly start to build a good and loyal following, not only at 'home' but much further afield. These guys defo know how to rock and there's a maturity about their writing that'll stand them in good stead with rock-heads of several persuasions. Highrise actually sound like a well established unit rather than just five guys who've been around each other for less than six months - this is an impressive and most enjoyable demo and I have nothing but admiration for their adrenalin fuelled rockin' way!

I see no reason why Highrise shouldn't do very well; all the tools are there and their obvious commitment to the cause is easy to hear. Highrise may still be young as an outfit and still comparatively young as individuals but with this demo they show grit, determination, flair, passion and unified strength. Great work - I'll be watching out for Highrise - watch them go!!
