Play 90 second soundbite of 'Relentless, Unstoppable' @ 'CD quality'
Angry growling vocals blast out and hit you like a lightning bolt to the brain as intricate screamin' guitars vie for metal prominence behind, the whole driven by steam-roller percussion and thumpin' bass. Yes, it's metal - no doubt there then? Yes, it's brash - no surprises there either! Yes, it's a mind-fuck of metallic 'noise' to melt yer ear wax and mash yer brain to pulp! JOb done!!
Five massively 'disturbing' tracks here from Havoc System as they smash their musical way into your life with no thought for your welfare or mental health. Havoc System's relentless onslaught is right up there with the best of 'em; if metal's your bag then Havoc System's gonna jangle your nerves and drip-feed your neurons! Ok, it's not easy to pick out the 'lyrics', ok, it's not really too singalongable but, it sure is a full-on hectic ride of mind-numbing jagged dark rock! Tracks here are 'Restless Soul', 'Relentless, Unstoppable', 'Into The Metaverse', 'Destructor' and 'Pillars Of Creation - the last two being 'rough mixes'!! Hey, if that's rough then I dread to think how they'll improve things - they're tasty tracks just as they are!!
What I particularly like about this demo is that just occasionally, Havoc System show how 'subtle' than can be (well, relatively speaking anyway!); on 'Relentless, Unstoppable' bassman Matt lays down some pretty convincing viola - how's that for metal with a difference? The use of viola doesn't detract at all from Havoc System's dark-side, in fact it adds originality and offers the listener just a little respite and suits their sound wonderfully - I'd actually like to hear more of the same - impressive stuff!! Havoc System are, Tom Webster (vocals), James Tinson (guitar, backing vocals), Paul du Plessis (guitar), Matt Hart (bass, viola) and Saif Abed (drums) - tidy outfit, tight as a duck's arse and well polished - great band, excellent demo!
