Half Man Half Biscuit aren't newcomers to the scene although many may not have come across this excellent outfit before. 'CSI : Ambleside' is their eleventh album and if the first ten passed you by please try not to miss this one - it's a little beauty. It's typically Half Man Half Biscuit. It's overflowin' with witty poetic ramblin's set to hideously catchy chunes. It's a whole shed load of attitudinal narrative and gorgeously energetic punkish-rockish-folkish-popish musicality of some excellence. Beware, alliteration overload ahead.....bountiful, brazen, bold, brash, bizarre, beautiful, bloody brilliant!!
Should you take Half Man Half Biscuit seriously though? Well, there's the dilemma coz these guys do 'have things to say', stuff to get off their chests but, you don't have to be absolute believers in their words, you don't have to sign up to their world! Personally, I think you should just take it as it comes, enjoy it for what it is. If you want to take it seriously that's fine. But, if the words lie a little heavy then just take it all with the proverbial pinch of salt but enjoy it for all of its, and I quote' 'rather formulaic brand of tuneless caterwaul'. Whatever, 'CSI : Ambleside' is just crackin' good respite from the all too serious, fight for top-spot, pop banality. Why? Coz at least this is clever, light entertainment that doesn't take itself too seriously - but it's still bloody great!
