Play 90 second soundbite of 'Krueger' @ 'CD quality'
Fury UK do controlled, hard, melodic rock with slight leaning towards prog and more than a touch of grace. Fury UK blow off enough steam but never allow the lid to be lifted; they keep their rock within bounds and focussed. Fury UK take the listener through tempo changes, key changes, head-bangin' riffs and sensibly restrained solos as they blast out their attention grabbin' wares. Catchy without being trite, Fury UK call you back for more with their precise and punchy rock - they never sell-out to pop banality and manage to keep on the genuine side of rockin' mayhem.
Many words have been written about Chris Appleton's excellent guitar work but Fury UK aren't just a one trick pony, these guys write and play as a unit and do it very well. Sure, there's loads of Appleton solos but they're never overdone, never over-long and they certainly don't detract from the overall Fury UK feel - rather, they're part and parcel of the whole rockin' package - that's all. Vocally I feel that there could be a bit of room for improvement, just here and there; the vocals occasionally tend towards loose, almost lazy but, thinking about it, somehow that bit of off-kilter, discord suits the whole Fury UK vibe and sits well within the context of the songs.
'Face Of Adversity' is a diverse and varied; Fury UK knock out their rockin' songs with punch and kick ass energy. There's more to admire than there is to dislike - 'old school' rock is alive and in the more than capable hands of Fury UK it'll continue to find takers of all ages and walks of life. 'Face Of Adversity' by Fury UK is a damn fine album and I'm glad there are still bands out there holding the old rock line and givin' it some!!
