Play 90 second soundbite of 'Momentum' @ 'CD quality'
Free State Prophets play with tangible aggression and energy. Their songs tend to reflect their main musical influences in many ways but FSP still manage to impart their own nuances to a well used genre and give a good account of themselves here.
Free State Prophets play with unbridled passion as they roar through tastily written songs; songs that tend to be pacey and punchy. Using some quite individualistic timings, FSP rely heavily on big guitar chords and riffs to accentuate the gritty vocal delivery. The solid rhythm section adds weight to the mix through powerful drumming and punctuative bass work.
Free State Prophets' demo lacks just a little in the mix and end production; with more attention to such detail this band would sound all the more punchy for it. None the less, this is a well crafted, workmanlike, if not totally polished piece of work that lets the listener into the dark world of Free State Prophets.
This may not be the best overall demo I've come across lately but it certainly does the job; Free State Prophets have a solid feel and play with passion and commitment. Their demo will surely earn them loads of gigs and generate keen interest. A good outing for what is clearly a more than competent outfit with a promising future.
