Single - Mercury Summer

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Mercury Summer' @ 'CD quality'

Fightstar is kinda what you get when pop and rock cross-over and fuse to become one compelling entity; 'Mercury Summer' has all the right and proper credentials to be a pop hit but retains a certain light rock maturity that suggests Fightstar could give many a rock band a good run for their money!

'Mercury Summer' is irritatingly infectious; the chorus line sits in yer brain and festers then comes back time and again to haunt you - it just won't go away!! So, 'Mercury Summers' is a catchy little bugger but, a bit like Snow Patrol I suppose, Fightstar manage to inject a sizeable chunk of rockin' aggression into the what is essentially a pop piece. 'Mercury Summer' is driven by relentless pointed drums that are as crisp and precise along side which the bass chugs away effortlessly. Guitars provide nifty riffs and tasty fills that ensure no instrumental space is left void but still allow the slick vocals to sit proudly and accessibly up-front. There's absolutely no doubt that radio-friendly 'Mercury Summer' has been superbly assembled and brilliantly crafted and thus Fightstar have given it every chance of getting decent air-time and hence exposure.

Fightstar show massive potential with 'Mercury Summer'; their great mix of pure pop with slick classic rock undertones is infectious and commercially viable - good exposure should see Fightstar moving on up apace and 'Mercury Summer' could be an early summer warmer for the excellent Fightstar.
