What a crackin' album this is!! Everlast raps and croons his way through sixteen glorious tracks here and shows that rap music doesn't have to be about gangsters, guns, booze and drugs and that Everlast isn't just a one trick rappin' pony. Everlast puts fun and wholesome spirit into his soulful nu-rap and sets new standards for the genre.

Now, rap of any description normally aint my thing, I don't really dislike it but I'm a little choosey; it has to be different to get me on-board - and that's exactly what Everlast aka Erik Schrody does here. He gives rap a whole new meaning, he brings it closer to 'mainstream' without losing any of the impact or the 'street-cred' reality. 'Love, War, And The Ghost Of Whitey Ford' by Everlast is a cross-over work that pools influences from just about every genre into one vibrant and pretty rockin album whilst keeping rap close to its heart.

Everlast seems keen on a 'big' sound here; there's often a helluva lot going on, big 'orchestration', big rock riffs, big soulful emotion, big just about everything. Hey, it really works too!! Everlast has been canny and pretty shrewd here; he's giving existing fans what they want plus a little bit to think about but he's also opening his musical world up to the greater market-place. And, I have to say, he's got it absolutely right - 'Love, War, And The Ghost Of Whitey Ford' is seriously genre blurring and seriously cool!

Everlast's deep woody voice adds warm depth and a certain natural 'darkness' to just about every track here and although those dusky tones shouldn't actually sit comfortably with the 'big' production, Everlast manages to deliver his vocals loud and clear - just as well really coz his lyrics are there to be heard and understood! Sounding a bit like Barry White does street-wise urban, Everlast comes over as creatively genuine and worldly-wise!

'Love, War, And The Ghost Of Whitey Ford' by Everlast is a tasty piece of work - his regular followers should find this challenging but rewarding but he should also pull 'new blood' into his fan-base with this cross-over work. 'Love, War, And The Ghost Of Whitey Ford' by Everlast goes places that most albums don't even come close to accessing.
