Nice sound, nice groove - nice all round actually!! Embers Fire are a four-piece rock band from Northampton/Bedfordshire and this three track demo indicates they're an outfit on a mission; Embers Fire aren't doing yer normal indie rock thing, they're trying to give us something just a bit more mature, not exactly experimental but certainly a little different and they seem to be getting it right!

Perhaps sitting on the softer side of the rock fence, Embers Fire have a very bold delivery; big vocals mixed way up front, loads of fx altered guitars ramping up the ante behind, concise but brutally honest bass running superbly in reign with some percussive big hitting that's never excessive but always on the money. It's the guitar dual/harmonies that tend to give Embers Fire a slight edge over many of their contemporaries; their overall sound is fresh and vibrant without being indulgent or in any way old-hat. Embers Fire deliver their well crafted songs with confidence and dynamic drive; theirs is a well nurtured and well hardened rock that sounds to be firmly within their control. Although this demo never finds Embers Fire totally cutting loose, I get the impression that, if require, Embers Fire could blast it out with the best of 'em and do it bloody well. A bit like Embrace I suppose; a distinctive sound and style that can be taken to db extremities but still work well.

In just three tracks and just over twelve minutes Embers Fire have whetted my appetite - there's definitely something very good goin' on here - Embers Fire sound like they mean business - they sound totally focussed, are well unified and are givin' it out good and strong. The songs are well written, well structured and don't simply follow trends; they have an Embers Fire identity, a trade-mark sound, and carry loads of commercial weight. This is a great, workmanlike demo recording that works for Embers Fire just as it is - a great promo work, an excellent introduction to the band and a bloody good little worker.

Embers Fire are still relatively young as individuals but they've been playing together for nearly three years already - those years of mutual understanding and appreciation of each others' skills, abilities etc is quite obvious here - Embers Fire play with belief in themselves, they're comfortable in each other's musical company and they gel to play as one entity. Embers Fire show fantastic promise here - great polished songs performed with energy, commitment and well-heeled professionalism - a crackin' demo from a very impressive soft rockin' outfit! I took to Embers Fire almost instantly but, as I wrote these words and kept on pressing 'Play' they really started to grind their way into me - tasty, very tasty!
