Play 90 second soundbite of 'Afterparty' @ 'CD quality'
The next best thing to an instrumental, 'Afterparty' relies almost entirely on its electo-repititious backbeat and persuasive rhythmic groove to get the feet tappin'. You don't need to be a great singer to join in with Ebenus here; just repeat the title, 'afterparty' countless times, in time with the music, and you're almost there! Nowt wrong with that though; Ebenus gets the job done with his precise, syncopated grooves and some pretty slick mixing. This is one of those tunes that doesn't really go anywhere but still makes you move along with it. There are four mixes included; 'radio edit', 'instrumental', 'album version' and 'acappella version' - a strange concoction considering the massive lack of 'words'!!
Anyway, I have to say this isn't for me - not my bag at all!! But, dancefloor groovers will find it stimulating and senselessly infectious so I guess it's job done by Ebenus. Certainly, Ebenus has a very silky way and his music will reach those at which it's targetted. But, for me, 'Afterparty' doesn't push any buttons and coesn't inspire me at all! This is real specialist stuff and it's there, in the dance clubs that Ebenus will find his mark and score heavily.
