Play 90 second soundbite of 'Take It Easy' @ 'CD quality'
This is a superbly put together reminder of just how good the Eagles were - all those years, all those songs, all that success - and they're still talked of with the same reverence and justified worshipfulness today. Quite right too, the Eagles made country rock music acceptable and opened the doors for thousands of similarly ilked outfits and artists that may never have got a chance if it hadn't been for the Eagles.
The Eagles were strong in every department; fantastically strong songs, masterful musicianship, stunning individual voices, incredible harmonies - add to that top class production and attention to detail and you've got a hard to beat, all-round polished act that have stood the test of time and can still pull in the crowds with their occasional get-togethers, re-unions, re-births etc, etc, and sell vast numbers of recorded works both audio and visual. The Eagles will remain a solid part of musical history for ever and a day and albums like this will continue to jog the memory of 'old timers' and Eagles virgins alike.
'The Complete Greatest Hits' could have been entitled almost anything - it wouldn't matter - the name 'Eagles' would ensure vast sales everywhere in the world as people flock to get a copy of this majestic compilation. Most 'fans' will, of course, already have numerous releases of all of these songs but that won't matter either - you can never have too much or too many when it comes the Eagles!! There's not much to say about track selection; to list the contents here would be futile - it matters not - everyone knows it's gonna be good!! And it is!! Certainly, if I was ever asked to list my top thirty or so Eagles songs, the list would read pretty much the same as this album's content - and in pretty much the same order. 'The Complete Greatest Hits' from the Eagles is epic, a landmark, a great big exclamation mark in musical history - a must have work - stunning, brilliant, superlative over-load!! Just go and buy it - you know it makes sense!! Hey, and I don't actually go a bundle on 'hits' comps - but I have to admit, this is very special, worthy and totally justified!
