Single - They See (desi) Revolution

Play 90 second soundbite of 'They See (desi) Revolution' @ 'CD quality'

Ok, not a lot of info made available here other than band name, song titles and the fact that this is on an Indian hip-hop label, Desi Media Networks - following up what little facts I had, seemingly, DNOAX are an eleven strong, London based, Indian hip-hop/rap combo. Their pretty unique take on the genre is surprisingly fresh and beautifully vibrant; eastern influences pour themselves in and out of the genre-typical pulsating grooves and you find yourself being slowly sucked in to DNOAX musical ethos. And, having been willingly rather than reluctantly sucked in I can honestly say, hey this is cool - I love it!!

There are four really crisp, really tasty tracks included here; 'They See (DESI) Revolution', 'The Moment', 'DNOAX Is Back' and 'Bhool Na Jana' - and, they really are inspired! DNOAX create a beautifully rounded sound as they chop and change between 'street' English and their native 'street' language. It's weird coz you don't really need to know what they're singing about - you just have to let the music wrap itself around you and sit back and nestle in its warm exterior. And, that warm exterior surrounds a very well crafted, luxuriant and equally warm interior - in fact, this work is performed and produced to a very high standard and DNOAX should be very proud of themselves for givin' it their all!

If you have any leanings towards world music or appreciate true 'international' vibes then you might just find this as entertaining and rewarding as I did; honestly, I'm generally not a big fan of hip-hop or rap music and there has to be something quite special goin' on for me to sit up and take notice. And guess what, DNOAX certainly made me sit up!! This is a fascinating fusion that I'm shocked about and yet I don't actually know why. Hip-hop music isn't tied into any Nation, race or creed although I suppose it does tend to be associated more with black American artists more than anything else. The Brits have done it and it's been handled successfully in Europe - so why would I be shocked to hear it with Asian or Indian nuances? I suppose it doesn't actually defy logic - there's no reason at all why Indian artists shouldn't have something to say through what is essentially music of and for the street!!

DNOAX, with 'They See (desi) Revolution' have brought a smile to my face and a twinkle to my toes - initially surprised but now back to reality, I feel DNOAX should have a great future - their music will appeal to a pretty wide audience and if this whole trip is properly promoted it could very well come to pass that 'they see revolution' in hip-hop/rap music with the likes of the excellent DNOAX and their 'world' contemporaries. Most unusual but extremely pleasing stuff from a great sounding combo - pleasantly surprising and damn cool to partake of - DNOAX rock and that's the truth!!
