Play 90 second soundbite of 'Tin Foil Bling' @ 'CD quality'
What Disco BizKid is doing here isn't actually new but it is bloody interesting. And, the big difference here is that Disco BizKid actually make it work; theirs is like a Commonwealth of genre, a United Nations of styles, a World of sounds - it works and it works very very well!! Disco BizKid's infectious music initially sounds a little contrived and 'you can't be serious!' in its form. But, as each track unfolds it becomes ever more clear that this is indeed a serious attempt at something modernistic, fresh and boundary-felling. Disco BizKid have taken all the good bits and pieces from pop, rock, funk, jazz, country, rap, hip-hop, electro and just about everything else and they've carefully, yes very carefully, re-written the rule book. The end product, as displayed in just four tracks here, is rather incredible. You'd think that everything would come out sounding a bit samey, bitty, messy - none of it!! Disco BizKid show that it can be done and made to work very well; 'No Chemicals' is nothing short of superb!!
Four very different tracks, four diverse pieces of work, four commercially viable tracks each capable of being released as a single and each having the potential to do very well. Disco BizKid have stumbled on something very workable here. Actually, I'm doing them a dis-service by using the work 'stumble'; this can't be accidental, this has been beautifully conceived, well thought out and superbly executed - and it's excellent!!
What also makes this piece of work a bit special is that I get the impression that the whole thing has been fun to do and that sense of fun comes across in the music; there's a bit of tongue-in-cheek here and there, there's a big chunk of humour and there's an amazing amount of good, old fashioned charm. Added to that there's the great musicianship, the scarily weird initial vision and the exquisite execution. The whole thing comes together as a weirdly exotic an exciting prospect and Disco BizKid could be heading for fame and fortune if they can get this out there. 'No Chemicals' by Disco BizKid is a real gas - excellent work, good fun, exciting and oh so easy to listen to!! Great work all round!! I love it - think you'll love it too!!
