Dirt Jake Replicas create a beautiful musical tapestry of sound here as the voices (male and female) rotate and harmonise in and around the sensuous, descriptive instrumentation. Reminiscent in its form to the experimental outings of those heady days of the mid 60's into the early 70's, the west coast musical explosion, the drug induced, mind altered, trance-like sounds that graced so many big movies of the time. But, Dirt Jake Replicas are not a retro band- oh no, Dirt Jake Replicas are toying with sound - dynamics, harmonies, juxtaposition, climax and crescendo - dark movements clashing with invigorating passages - creating wave upon wave, sound upon sound as they fashion their aural kaleidoscope into something beautiful and evocative. This is 00's experimentation, 00's progressive - not post-rock, not post-anything - just great modern musical composition that slowly builds from simplistic melody to great cadence and cascade, stimulating the senses as it grows and finally subsides into its own wake.
