Play 90 second soundbite of 'Reggae For It Now' @ 'CD quality'
Pennant's version relies heavily on a infuriatingly catchy guitar riff that runs alongside and compliments his easy sounding vocal style. Devon Pennant may not quite be the new Bob Marley, he doesn't really have the natural charisma and infectious attack that Marley had, but if reggae is once again destined to become a popular genre in Britain, then Devon Pennant could be at the forefront of any new movement. Certainly, Pennant's easy way is well suited to the chilled Caribbean groove; 'Reggae For It Now' just makes you want to sit and chill. I can just imagine lying back in the shade of a tree, sipping on a long cold drink and just letting the world go by and drifting off into the distance.
'Reggae For It Now', on first hearing, almost sounds as if it lacks something dynamically, but then, through Pennant's slick delivery and the catchy arrangement you start to get the picture and many of the bad things going on just don't seem as bad any more! And that's really what reggae is all about - it shouldn't be too taxing, it should just make you feel good and relaxed. So, job done then coz 'Reggae For It Now' has got me nicely chilled already!
Devon Pennant's 'Reggae For It Now' should prove a very popular piece in and around the dancefloor and the BBQ and as the reggae vibe once again starts to infiltrate our popular music scene Pennant has every chance of being there at the start of the new wave.
