Play 90 second soundbite of 'Chairkickers' @ 'CD quality'
Dead Letter Office are essentially a rock outfit that err on the side of pop commercialism. Call it alternative rock, call it indie rock, call it pop rock, call it what you damn well like but Dead Letter Office make sensibly raunchy rock music that will suit the mosh pit, the stadium or the more intimate venues with equal distinction - just fire these guys up and let 'em roll!
'Chairkickers' / 'The Comeback Kid' is a powerful and annoyingly catchy combination aimed straight down the throat of pop sensibility. Dead Letter Office, if these two tracks are anything to go by, specialise in the big, anthemic, rock stylee kinda thing - theirs is a scorchin' mix of hard driven bass and drums fronted by angular guitars and well proportioned keyboards, a mass of well balanced sound for the discerning muso of today and tomorrow. Dead Letter Office set their sights high and raise the ante for others to try and follow; their pacey blend of poppy hooks and big soaring melodies is both memorable and irresistible - Dead Letter Office certainly seem to know a thing or two about how to make sweet rock'n'roll music for the masses!
I suppose Dead Letter Office err on the side of well tried, well proven rock'n'pop formulae; these guys don't actually push too hard at the boundaries, preferring instead to keep pretty much within the already pretty elastic ropes of commercial sensibility. The result is a finely blended, well rounded style that'll sit comfortably with numerous modern musical affiliations - Dead Letter Office offer a widely appealing sound that is hard to ignore but equally hard to define. Suffice to say that either track here could actually take prime position as the 'A' side. 'Chairkickers' belts along at quite a pace but goes through several tempo changes and offers plenty of light and shade whilst 'The Comeback Kid' feels somewhat more 'grown up', more mature, once again plenty of variation but possibly just a little more rock punch than it's 'big brother' 'A' side! Both songs are radio friendly and both get the job done - both will, I'm sure get air time and it'll be up to Joe Public to pick their favourite. Dead Letter Office's 'Chairkickers' / The Comeback Kid' is Brit-rock at its finest and catchiest - there's every chance that one or both of these songs will be coming into your home in the, not too distant, future.
