A beautifully conceived work, 'This Is Not Your Job' stands proud for its melding of percussive influences and its unique ability to bring Africa and South American dancin' to your door. Fantastic rhythms and stunning instrumentation is further enhanced by the nu-jazz under-currents; a splendid excursion through all-too-often forgotten musical territories, assembled with a modernistic twist to cater for the hungry hoards of the dance circuit.
If you're into the whole remix thing that I so hate, you'll be pleased here cuz there's seemingly zillions, well eleven actually, variations on the theme - instrumental and vocal that more or less cater for all your dance needs. It's bright and breezy work by Da Lata and really hits the 'spot'. And, with the 'world' influences Da Lata at least put something less abused into the modern dance frame. For little old me, the one who doesn't like remixes, the original version is all that's required, the other mixes, as good as they are, are simply bonus tracks for the originally-deluded.
'This Is Not Your Job by Da Lata feat. Diabel Cissokho is a great dance track - outstanding for its, far reaching, 'world' influences and a real pleasure to behold - different and therefore, for me, worthy and compelling. And yes, ok, the remixes do give the listener a massive bonus - eleven for the price of one can't be bad - and when there's eleven classy workings on offer as here, it's hard to knock the principal of remixes!!
