Collaborator

Single - Nothing At All

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Nothing At All' @ 'CD quality'

Initially, 'Nothing At All' by Collaborator is hard to define; opening with a slightly jazzy undercurrent then going off into impressively arranged rock riffs it's sounds quite different. Strange tempo changes and an almost off-beat rhythm sets 'Nothing At All' apart from most of the commercial offerings currently doing the rounds.

'Nothing At All' has an almost quirky edge to it but the solid melody sits firmly in the rock genre. It's a great little worker with loads of hooky bits that you later find yourself singing out loud but can't quite remember where they came from - then it all comes back - it's Collaborator and that damn catchy single of theirs.

'Nothing At All' sounds fantastic with the volume up high and rippin'. The mix and production is spot and gives the song an overall clarity such that even at the high decibel level there's nothing lost. With solid percussion and big bass lines sitting firmly behind the aggressive but slick guitars Collaborator have a pretty big sound but manage to leave oceans of room for the distinctive vocals to cry out - nicely crafted and well performed.

The single is taken from Collaborator's soon to be releases album and it gives a good insight to what should be a great release. With just one track to go on, it's difficult to comment too much on the band and their music. But, judging by 'Nothing At All', I'm sure the album will well worth a listen and will tell us much more about what sounds like a great outfit.
