Play 90 second soundbite of 'The Glowing' @ 'CD quality'
Cobweb Dilemmas pack a decent enough punch with their demi-aggressive, staccato, nu-punk delivery and between just the three of them they lay down a pretty hefty vibe that's got loads of pop sensibility but still manages to retain a nice twist of free-loadin' balls. Cobweb Dilemmas are Key (bass and voice), Emlui (guitar and voice) and Dee (drums and voice) and when they combine into the force that is Cobweb Dilemmas they work very well together and sound damn cool.
There are three pretty varied tracks on offer here, 'Bullfights', 'The Glowing' and 'Happy Plants' - yep, just three but three solid and mighty innovative songs to try to come to terms with what Cobweb Dilemma are about and where they're at. Now that's normally just about sufficient - three tracks usually tells me most of what I need to know. However, Cobweb Dilemma don't seem to want to conform; they've contrived to throw three very individual works together just to give the listener a challenge and a pretty wide view of their musical world. And, I have to say, Cobweb Dilemmas have quite a lot to offer; the trio seem to thrive on variation and unashamed lo-fi rockin' pop. The staccato nature of their works is, at first, a little testing but, once you come to terms with Cobweb Dilemmas attitudinal power pop you start to feel a little more relaxed and open to persuasion.
I like the whole 'looseness' of feel that Cobweb Dilemma achieve and although some work could be done to bring it all together with a bit more professionalism, I do wonder if it's the loose feel that makes these dudes different - over-production, I suppose, would take away some of their fire and gritty feel. Cobweb Dilemmas give a damn good account of themselves here but I still think I'd like to tighten it all up - just a bit but not so much as to spoil their brash and energetic feel!! Interesting songs performed with spirit and drive - Cobweb Dilemmas are givin' it some here and it works better each time I listen - coolly different and slightly challenging stuff from an outfit that sound like they know what they want and lay it down how they feel is right - and why not!!
