Cloud Atlas

Demo

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Light' @ 'CD quality'

This home-grown demo from Cloud Atlas does just what it's supposed to - it demonstrates, it tempts and it teases! Cloud Atlas have put together a low budget three tracker here that's not just workmanlike but is very impressive indeed; three well written and well performed songs that show Cloud Atlas' penchant for creating infectious pop/rock - and it's pretty close to being the mutt's nuts actually!

What this work lacks in 'studio' polish it makes up for in potential; There's three really great sounding and varied songs here and Cloud Atlas give each one their all. As a demo release this is impressive stuff; it shows that Cloud Atlas can come up with the goods and coz this actually sounds like a 'live' recording it's very much a case of what you hear is what you get!

Cloud Atlas are a four piece currently working out of Cardiff - they comprise, Jamie (guitar, synth & vocals), Gareth (guitar & vocals), Rosie (bass & vocals) and Alun (drums). Their press pack tells of them creating a lot of interest through their live work - and if this demo is typical, I can understand why! Cloud Atlas give off very positive vibes - they have a certain energy that comes out in their music, they play with a sort of individual freedom and yet everything comes together superbly and with a strong sense of unity and solidarity - there's something very likeable about Cloud Atlas and I can well imagine them doing very well out there in the big bad world.

As a demo this untitled work is excellent and gets the job done simply but effectively. Cloud Atlas have quickly got to me and whetted my appetite. Hopefully they'll get it all together and come up with a longer, more professionally handled work before long. Cloud Atlas already sound bloody good - with top quality mixing and production etc they should be absolutely awesome!! Impressive stuff this!!
