Single - Back Again / Copenhagen

Chris Townsend definitely knows how to put together epic sounding pop/rock songs; this double 'A' single release, 'Back Again' / 'Copenhagen' presents Chris Townsend in two classy and quite different lights. 'Back Again' comes straight at yer and grabs yer by the scruff of the neck and screams 'commercial success'. 'Copenhagen' however, is a slow grower both in its composition and its appealability - a real worker though!!

Both songs work extremely well, of that there's no doubt. 'Back Again' tells the listener, almost instantly, a great deal about Chris Townsend's musical way. But, 'Copenhagen' takes you deeper into his world and shows you the depth of this guy's writing and his ability to emote as he vocalises.

'Back Again' / 'Copenhagen' will be an interesting one to watch coz the two tracks are quite different and I can't help but feel that 'Back Again' will get most of the air-time initially but then 'Copenhagen' might just take over and snatch pride of place. Either way, either song, Chris Townsend's got a very bright and infectious way about him. Both songs here show maturity and commercial sensibility, both deserve to do well, both should help Chris Townsend on his musical way to better things.

Although both songs here are definitely commercially biased, there's something about what I'm hearing that suggests there's a lot more to Chris Townsend than just pure 'pop' - something's itching away at me and saying 'someone to watch out for, someone that's got a lot more in his musical 'locker', someone with a future as maybe an album artist with potential longevity'. I'm not sure what it is I'm experiencing but, Chris Townsend 'feels' like something new and quite exciting - I'll certainly keep my fingers crossed for him and I'll be watching to see which way this goes!!

'Back Again' / 'Copenhagen' by Chris Townsend has everything pretty much goin' in the right direction - both songs, although quite diverse, are nicely rounded, well proportioned and superbly crafted. Both songs work commercially and I just wonder if Chris Townsend should perhaps have kept 'Copenhagen' up his sleeve for a follow-up to 'Back Again'. Let's see - let's hope he's got it right. I'm feeling good things about Chris Townsend - there's something goin' on here that's a bit special and I think this double 'A' side, 'Back Again' / 'Copenhagen', is just the start of something much bigger. Yes, I've got a good feeling about Chris Townsend - time will tell!!
