Petite Malvern songstress Carol Owen performed an impressive set of original material and encored with one cover tonight. Accompanied on acoustic guitar by local guitar virtuoso and occasional hero, Stu Field, she once again showed the Plumbers Acoustic Night regulars what an underrated talent she is. Carol & Stu Field Relatively unknown she is very highly spoken of by fellow musicians and songwriters. I feel she just doesn't get as much exposure as she should or could; whether that's her own choice, I just don't know.

Carol is quite a prolific songwriter with her works often having an emotional edge without ever being dreary. She has a lovely rounded (what does that mean?) and full vocal style which can be gentle and 'folky' with just a few hints of country. She performs with great precision and feeling.

Stu Field, more regularly seen performing electrically with rock covers band, The Fingers, works superbly with Carol; their two guitars complimenting each other with Stu's picking style, full of harmonics and other little refinements, emphasising Carol works to great effect.

Original songs tonight were, 'Inevitable Road', 'Good Times', 'Pushing Me', 'More To This Life', 'Wandering Oh So Far' and 'Again'. Great songs with meaningful lyrics and all beautifully presented tonight - as always!
