Play 90 second soundbite of 'No Strings Or Ties' @ 'CD quality'
This album is absolutely typical of the good Captain's commercially biased output; massively enjoyable, totally singalongable, gloriously popatious and scarily unputdownable. Captain Wilberforce has a natural ability to write great sounding songs which err on the pop side of light rock and always contain a beautifully sophisticated British-ness. The good Captain really knows his craft and certainly understands how to create a good 'chune'; this album is rammed full of commercially viable tracks any of which could be lifted and released as a stand-alone single - each with its own identity yet all working so well together .
As well as typical Britishness, Captain Wilberforce's music carries a great vibrancy and a lovely summery quality - 'Everybody Loves A Villain' has loads of feel-good factor and just makes you feel awake and refreshed. Cleverly, 'Everybody Loves A Villain' is a bit of a double-edged sword; keep the db's low and enjoy its jaunty spirit and placid nature or turn it up and get blown away by its depth and intensity. This is, for me, the best album release to date from the massively pleasurable Captain Wilberforce; 'Everybody Loves A Villain' is better structured, more focussed and generally more cohesive and free-flowing than earlier works. 'Everybody Loves A Villain' by Captain Wilberforce is a superb piece of British pop-rock that deserves to do well - every minute a pleasure - every inch a winner - tremendous stuff!!
