Camp Actor

Single - Your Obsession

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Your Obsession' @ 'CD quality'

Camp Actor is electro-wizards Justin James and Marlowe and between the two of 'em they've connived to come up with a multi-layered, multi-faceted take on electro music. The 'Original Single Version' of 'My Obsession' crosses genre boundaries and will appeal to a pretty wide ranging audience - and quite rightly!! Its, what I consider, 'lesser' brothers in the form of 'mixes' targets more distinctly the dance fraternity and will have their takers also, so it seems like a win/win situation for Camp Actor here!

Punchy, raunchy even, Camp Actor go that step further and make electro music accessible and believable to straight popsters, dance freaks and maybe even a few rock-heads. Certainly, 'Your Obsession (Radio Edit)' is pitched towards a bigger audience and Camp Actor get the mix just about right. It's got a bouncy kind of feel, it's annoyingly catchy and also pretty singalongable. Then, included here, typically for the genre, are four other 'mixes' of 'Your Obsession' all aimed more purposefully at the 'dance' market and very much hitting their mark too. The Remixes do what they say they do - provide different versions of the same track (why????). However, the 'Radio Edit', for my money, is by far the best track on display here; it's totally different and that's what makes it stand out - it's actually a great track and I don't think the remixes come close to it for originality or feelgood factor.

'Your Obsession' by Camp Actor will do well for itself I guess and every 'version' will end up with its 'fans'. The 'Radio Edit' which they clearly name as 'Original Single Version' is massively commercial and should get pretty major air time. The remixes will get good airings on more specialised 'stations' I guess and Camp Actor should pull in some good sales as they target several market-places simultaneously.

'Your Obsession' by Camp Actor is a tasty little single - I'd like to think that the 'Radio Edit' will be its star and end up shining bright over and above the other versions - it deserves success as a stand-alone commercially viable track. The 'Remixes', as good as they are, don't actually do anything for me but I'm sure they'll all have their takers when things kick off!!
