CD - Travelin' Show

Play 90 second soundbite of 'No One' @ 'CD quality'

Bowen is a Canadian singer/songwriter/guitarist with something special to offer. Here he brings you his latest album, 'Travelin' Show', in which he lays down a collection of excellent songs that skip in and out of genre; sounds from here, styles from there but, everything coming quite clearly from the heart, soul and lively mind of Bowen.

'Travelin' Show' is a pretty chilled, atmospheric work that's easy to sit and relax to. Bowen's silky vocal style lulls you into a peaceful frame of mind as his music washes over you. Bowen's voice is pretty damn versatile and he has the ability to take it way down and easy or reach out and raise the rafters - and he uses its full potential across the eleven tracks offered here. Bowen's music caresses rather than jolts - his multi-layered assault on the senses is conducted with subtlety and tenderness. That said, Bowen really seems to live in his words; his pained, expressive vocal delivery tells you exactly where he's coming from. The guy is living his dream and all he wants you to do is join him and enjoy the ride. And, certainly that's not difficult to do; Bowen's accessible approach ensures the listener feels part of the long ride home to Bowen's musical world.

'Travelin' Show' sounds like it should be played low and sweet but surprisingly, if your turn up the vol, loud and proud works just as well - in fact, I prefer it a bit more up-front and aggressive, it seems to work better dynamically which opens the door a lot more and lets you hear more of the subtle nuances, the gentle ebb and flow of instruments and beats, the vocal dexterity with all of its soulful warmth. Clever stuff this!!

At the business end of all of this I don't actually see Bowen becoming a world beater just yet, even with this excellent album, as good as it is. I think there's more and even better to come from Bowen yet. I see this aggressively fuelling the Bowen fire, raising the heat, sending signals far and wide that should help Bowen climb up a few more rungs of the fame ladder. 'Travelin' Show' by Bowen is a delightful album of exquisitely crafted songs performed with relish and distinction. Bowen sets his stall out in no uncertain terms here and suggests he's got what it takes to at least chase the big boys and make them think a bit. I see 'Travelin' Show' as a great promotional work that should help pull in loads of gigs and help spread the Bowen word. Watch out for the name 'Bowen', you'll sure recognise it when you hear it and you'll sure remember what the guy's about once you've heard his work. Once heard Bowen stays heard - tasty stuff - I look forward to watching how this one progresses.
