Bonnie Tyler

CD - Celebrate

Play 90 second soundbite of 'All I Need Is Love' @ 'CD quality'

Rammed full of attitude and emotion,'Celebrate' announces the return of powerhouse 'rock diva' Bonnie Tyler to the musical front-line. Eternally youthful Tyler grinds out her silky 'rock' wares with trademark grit, gravel but most of all, passion. 'Celebrate' is an album overflowing with typically big songs with big productions; full-on rock ballads and gutsy grinders teeming with class and professional polish.

Tyler's distinctive voice has been and always will be the feature that people recognise and relate to but her other great and natural talent lies in her vocal delivery; she sings with belief and conviction as if every word means so much to her. That's Bonnie Tyler's trump card really - 'heart on her sleeve' performances that just get at you.

Bonnie Tyler (still looking bloody good, by the way!) calls on all her years of experience here as she attacks her songs with the energy of a much younger firebrand emo-rock- balladeer. She oozes quality. The songs are strong and well suited to the Tyler approach. But, just occasionally, the production sounds over clinical and a little 'manufactured' (programmed) which detracts somewhat - give me a solid' personalised musical feel anytime! That said, with 'Celebrate', Bonnie Tyler states categorically that she's back, she means business and with her massive ability and determination she manages to enforce her iconic status.

Most of the tracks are very radio-friendly and should receive plenty of air-time and once again be 'hits' with her long- standing followers. But, I'm not so sure if Bonnie Tyler will manage to win over millions of new fans and admirers with 'Celebrate'. She's obviously got the talent and the 'balls' but is her material and big rock ballad style really 'now'? - Only time will tell.

As I listened to this classy work I picked out a line in 'Run Run Run' which states, "I don't think I have a thing to prove" - too true Bonnie - go for it!
