Play 90 second soundbite of 'Falling Off The Floor' @ 'CD quality'
Blue Noise comprise Joe (vocals and guitar), Matt (backing vocals and guitar), Adam (bass) and Will (drums) - the guys are obviously well rehearsed and sound ready and up for the fight and the long haul. Their 'alternative' tag means they're gonna come up against a lot of strangely strange but oddly normal competition and Blue Noise will need to be innovative, focussed and rock-solid. They're clearly well prepared and workmanlike but perhaps not the quite finished article just yet!
The six well crafted tracks included here are rammed with youthful vigour, more than a hint of attitude and show great potential; excellent lyrics and plenty of light and shade, the lads generally have a good handle on what's required to make good modern music. Sure, there's room for improvement here and there but generally everything works damn well. The lead vocals are really tasty with Joe having an unusual timbre and great delivery technique. The rhythm section work solidly together as do the two guitars and although there's plenty going on instrumentally Blue Noise leave ample room for the vocals to belt out. My only criticism is that I'd like to hear more invention on the instrumental side; at the moment some of the tracks lack real identity and the guitars, although well handled and working seamlessly together, don't go anywhere new - the lads need to up the ante a little and find something in there that's unique to Blue Noise.
Blue Noise have impressed me with this demo; the potential is clearly there, the songwriting is very, very strong and the guys can really deliver the goods! Blue Noise are still young individually but I think there's something there that's a bit special and it'll be interesting to watch Blue Noise to see how they develop and grow. Keep on rockin' Blue Noise - you know you can do it!!
