Play 90 second soundbite of 'Swag' @ 'CD quality'
Searing, soaring guitars totally decorate punchy percussive back-beats leaving plenty of room for Black Bikini Alpha's electronic onslaught and fearsome vocal outpourings. Black Bikini Alpha do things slightly different to most 'rock' oriented bands; these guys take the far-reaching form and add innovative nu-wave analogue/digital fills and thrills and bring new commerciality to pop-rock. Black Bikini Alpha also manage to inject masses of hooky passages, phrases, riffs and choruses into their buxom and intelligent rock ditties; Black Bikini Alpha certainly can't be accused of missing a trick!! And, 'Grand Madness' includes their, soon to be released, single 'Kicking And Screaming' - a great stand-alone work that pretty much typifies this ballsy duo and sets out their stall in fine detail.
'Grand Madness', to me, is a very cute descriptive title for this work; grand madness indeed - this is big, bold and pretty majestic stuff and the well structured mayhem that Black Bikini Alpha bring to the 'party' is also bordering on 'insane' (in the kindest possible way!). 'Grand Madness' by Black Bikini Alpha certainly calls on a multitude of contemporary musical forms but somehow pulls it all together to produce a remarkably intoxicating blend of now-rock that's burstin' with today's pop sensibility but tied down with good, old fashioned, rock'n'roll foundations - it's an exciting and pretty compelling take on a modern theme that works all day long - great stuff this - a little different and all the better for its brazen originality!!
