Blabbermouth is country/folk artist Steve Thompson; sounding a little like a modern day Glen Campbell, Blabbermouth's gentle acoustic banjo style is soothing and more than a touch catchy.

Blabbermouth keeps his music simplistic and uncluttered; his soft delivery, both vocally and instrumentally, is distinctive and very effective. Although definitely erring on the side of contemporary country, Blabbermouth remains quintessentially British with his homely take on the form; superbly radio friendly and nicely presented, 'Something I Need' and its darkly titled 'B' side, 'Blabbermouth's Funeral', sit comfortably within the bounds of modern popular music even though they lean well into country country!

Even though I don't really see 'Something I Need' storming up any charts at the moment, there's certainly a commercial aspect to the work that'll pull in many new followers and admirers. Blabbermouth has a certain something that's hard to define - his style is familiarly unfamiliar, his songs are unnervingly plain yet somehow enthralling and tantalising. Blabbermouth's musical way is not so much obvious as tangential; the guy's music creeps up on you and gets inside yer head without you even realising it's happening!

'Something I Need' by Blabbermouth is a tidy piece of work that, even if it doesn't totally take the world by storm, should do quite nicely thank you. Blabbermouth's gentle country/folk approach is individual and pretty convincing!
