Play 90 second soundbite of 'Baby Steps' @ 'CD quality'
'Through The Invisible Landscape' is truly intoxicating, bordering on mind-altering; what these three guys do with voices, keys, violin and double bass is nothing short of sensational. However, there just had to be a however didn't there, Biltone are probably too good to reach out to the majority - Biltone are fringe players, a cult band; innovative - without doubt, talented - quite obviously, progressive - oh yes, oh, and slightly wacky in the nicest possible way. Biltone float my boat - of that there is no question. But, I think they are just too way out there for the masses; Biltone require the listener to think, to be involved in the process, to evolve as Biltone evolve, to dissolve into the musical imagery set before them. Now, that's right up my street - and I just love this album! But, many will simply find Biltone a bit too experimental, a bit too out there. 'Through The Invisible Landscape' is thinking persons' music!
'Through The Invisible Landscape' by Biltone is an exceptional work absolutely overflowing with 'themed' soundscapes that are as restful as they are vibrant and as calming as they are joyous and pretty much as good as it gets really. 'Through The Invisible Landscape' by Biltone shows that, thankfully, musicians are still prepared to stand up and be counted in their quest to be different and innovatively creative - Biltone take a risk with their take on 'music for the mind' - for me, it works totally - for you, I just don't know! Suffice to say that 'Through The Invisible Landscape' by Biltone is a special work that deserves to be heard and experienced - Biltone push the boat out and quite where it'll take them I'm not too sure - hopefully to somewhere rewarding and fittingly comfortable!! Brilliant!!
