Play 90 second soundbite of 'All That We Know' @ 'CD quality'
Deciding on which track to choose couldn't have been an easy task but he's probably got it right. 'All That We Know' is a piece of Talbot middle-ground; neither rocker nor ballad - just a damn good softly rockin' 'pop' tune that typifies this guys musical world. Beautifully crafted, 'All That We Know' flows superbly with its trade mark catchy chorus and repetitively themed melody line. Great use of balanced guitar riffs course through the piece giving the rockier feel as Talbot carefully applies his vocals to great effect. 'B' sides, 'Angel Of The North' and 'Givin' You A Moment' bulk out this impressive release; the former being a damn good Robbo Robinson song which Talbot has completely reworked, made it his own and turned a good song into a great song. 'Angel Of The North' finds the silkier side of Talbot's voice as he treats the soulfully yearning lyrics with all due respect. If this had been self-written it would've made the 'A' side slot - of that I'm sure!! 'Givin' You A Moment' brings things to a uplifting if slightly strained sounding end. Probably the weakest song here 'Givin' You A Moment' is short and punchy but leaves me a bit on the cool side as Talbot sounds a bit stretched key-wise.
'All That We Know' does what it sets out to do; it represents several facets of Talbot's style and abilities. It's certainly leans towards his commercially biased work and should stand Talbot in good stead.
