Wow, just cop a listen to this then! Astrid Williamson's new album, 'Day Of The Lone Wolf' is a stunning example of contemporary popular music. I use the word popular rather than 'pop' coz, to me, there's a difference; Astrid Williamson is not a 'pop' star and I don't think she pretends to be one either. What Astrid Williamson is, my friends, my music loving buddies, is an amazing new talent, a vibrant and compelling musical all-rounder with an ability to touch you deep down inside with her magnificent works.

Astrid Williamson writes and performs sublime, original material that reminds me of the less fussy side of Joni Mitchell. Oh yes, it may seem far fetched but I really do see Astrid Williamson in the same 'popular' genre as Joni Mitchell, whether that's nu-folk or light, melodic rock or blah, blah, blah...I don't really know or even care, it matters not one jot. Astrid Williamson structures her songs in the same refined and polished way as Mitchell. She has a natural grace and poise to her voice that allows her to eke out exactly the right sentiment at just the right time. Her songs are mature and evocative. The arrangements are breathtaking. Got the picture yet? Let me help you, Astrid Williamson is more than a bit special!!

This lady seems to be able to turn her hand to almost anything; she plays numerous keyboards, acoustic and electric guitar, she does the programming, most of the arrangements and gets stuck in with the mixing process. And, then there's that voice; hauntingly beautiful, expressive and pretty damn distinctive. I think that just about sums up 'musical all-rounder' doesn't it! And, with twelve astonishingly good tracks that take you on a silky smooth ride through various emotions but never leave you feeling anything but relaxed and positive, this is quality of the highest order. But don't just take my word for it - get out there a get your hands on a copy of 'Day Of The Lone Wolf' by Astrid Williamson - it's out on June 7th 2007 on One Little Indian.

'Day Of The Lone Wolf' is just about as good as it gets. Faultless, extremely easy on the ear, totally captivating and an absolute pleasure to behold. 'Day Of The Lone Wolf' is, without doubt, one of the finest albums I've come across for 'donkey's trousers' and Astrid Williamson is one very special and extremely talented young lady! And, if you think I've written her name (that's Astrid Williamson by the way) a bit too often here, that's coz I really want you to remember this girl's name. Something tells me Astrid Williamson is gonna be massive!
