Play 90 second soundbite of 'Saw Red' @ 'CD quality'
'Saw Red' immediately hits all the right buttons. Sleepy vocals over nice jazzy piano and drums provide a smoochy, Sade feel. Muted trumpet adds to the overall jazz feel. This was the first original work of Andreya's that I'd heard; judging by this, Andreya has fine song writing skills that will hopefully blossom and result in more of the same!
And, 'Maybe Today' brings more of the same! It follows in the same sleepy groove; a beautifully crafted piece overlaid with a light orchestral feel. Once more Andreya lays down her cool, smooth vocals showing her rich tones and depth of feel.
'Fly Away' lifts the pace a little with a more funky feel. Opening against a catchy bass riff this features some fine vocal effects that lift the overall sound to something quite special.
Three tracks over too quickly and leaving me craving more of the same. Hopefully Andreya will continue to build her original repertoire and it can't be long before she starts reaping the rewards of her hard work. As good as she is at covering classic songs I feel that she shines brighter with her originals.
This is a major talent in the making - watch out for Andreya Triana - she's going to be big!
